Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a CNC Operator level IV- 2nd
Shift for our Fullerton, CA location. HFS is a business unit of
Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold
the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and
we're the North American leader in commercial transportation
fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are
found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products
are also critical components of industrial gas turbines,
automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction
and industrial equipment. Operates and maintains, after set-up by
others, any or all standard or specialized production machines in
use by the company including but not limited to tappers, drillers,
crimp and presses. Operator will be held to established production
and quality standards. Incumbent will have control to make minor
adjustments to the process or machines after tasks are assigned.
Requires, under guidance of senior personnel, the operation of CNC
controlled machine tools to perform any sequence of programmed
operation using programs and tool layouts provided. Essential
Duties and Responsibilities \n Selects and sets proper tooling as
identified on tool layout to correspond with program. \n Makes
set-ups by using typical tooling fixtures and indicating target
diameters, hole alignments, or spindle run out. \n Loads and proves
out program and runs and self-inspects first article samples.
Adjusts set-up as necessary to conform to dimensions and
tolerances. \n Completes as directed all necessary documentation
for each set-up. Such as S.P.C. charts, set-up checklist, first
article verification, etc. \n Run, monitor and troubleshoot
equipment in production, adjusting set-up as necessary. \n Monitor
tool life and dimensional characteristics of product. Replenish
tooling as directed. \n Monitor process using S.P.C. techniques. \n
Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs. \n
Reads blueprints and has the knowledge to use micrometers,
calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial
indicators as needed. \n Keeps work area clean, safe and in an
orderly fashion on a daily basis. \n Performs other tasks of equal
or lesser skill as required. \n \n Qualifications Basic
Qualifications: \n Minimum of three years related experience and/or
training in machine shop operation running a variety of machine
shop equipment including CNC equipment; or equivalent combination
of education and experience. \n Ability to read and interpret
blueprints and work instructions \n Understanding of cutting tools
(offset and geometry) and must know "G" and "M" Codes \n Excellent
troubleshooting skills \n Willing to cross train and/or assist
other departments to meet facility goals \n Use the necessary
measuring tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Dial Indicators,
Comparator, Gages, etc) as required \n Good communication skills \n
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The
employee is responsible to maintain fitness-for-duty while holding
the above-described position and should be able to perform the
essential tasks of the position in a safe, appropriate and
effective manner. This refers to the physical, mental and emotional
duties of the job. \n Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not
exceed per EHS policies) \n Must be able to stand for long periods
of time \n Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching,
and bending. \n Need to be able to wear safety steel toe shoes and
walk around shop floor environment as needed. \n Be able to remove
dangling jewelry for shop floor assigned tasks, and wear hearing
protection as needed. \n \n Preferred Qualifications: \n High
School Diploma or GED equivalent \n Understanding of 5S principals;
Sort, Simplify, Shine, Standardize and Sustain \n SPC knowledge
