opportunity for an experienced and hands-on *Senior Materials
Engineer* to discover, source and develop materials and processes.
The successful candidate will also work at the manufacturing sites
to scale up new materials and processes to support all Avery
businesses. Additionally, you will be responsible for discovering
and developing new materials and processes based on emerging as
well as existing technologies. Most development activities will
involve narrow web converting and printing processes.The role is
responsible for working with cross-functional teams, including
Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and external vendors to define
technologies (material, process, and systems) required for
developing product roadmaps and execute product launches. Daily
interactions and effective verbal and written communication will be
required as part of cross-functional teams as well as with
resources outside of Avery to drive business-critical projects to

week.*Primary responsibilities: ** Work with technology (material &
process) suppliers to identify and develop new materials and
processes to support growth of all Avery businesses.* Participate
in consumer research or product ideation. Seek to understand
consumer needs and develop concepts, prototypes, and product
solutions to meet these needs.* Develop raw material and product
specifications.* Simultaneously lead and execute multiple
challenging projects.* Work with internal cross functional team to
identify, execute, and realize cost reduction opportunities for
existing Avery businesses.* Participate in trouble shooting with
cross-functional team to resolve variety of product or
process-related issues, pertaining to new product launches or
manufacturing of existing products.* Work in a cross-functional
team environment with Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Quality,
and other members of the R& D department.* Communicate and
coordinate with outside vendors or Avery/CCL personnel at other
locations (domestic and international sites) for materials
development and sourcing, equipment, trials, or to help
troubleshoot issues during development.* Work under minimal
supervision while following established guidelines and
procedures.*Requirements: ** Minimum 4 - 5 years working experience
in Materials or Chemical Engineering capacity, 7+ years preferred*
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material
Engineering, Master of Science in same fields an advantage* Ability
to work successfully in a cross-functional team environment and
under tight timelines* Experience with simultaneously managing
multiple projects/activities to successful completion* Willingness
to travel worldwide, but mostly to Tijuana, Mexico, for supporting,
attending, and conducting trials - approximately 30-50%*
Well-versed in multiple disciplines; i.E. design,
materials,sciences.* Experience with digital printing and
