Job Description:
Description
Responsible for substation engineering and consulting services for
clients across the US and internationally. Main responsibilities
include creating electrical protection & control and/or physical
layout design deliverables. Projects range in size, complexity, and
voltage class from small distribution equipment upgrades to large
transmission projects. This position can influence the future of
the resiliency and reliability of the electric grid. Opportunities
to advance into leadership roles are available.
Position may include full or partial responsibility of the
following assignments:
Develop scopes of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans
Prepare engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules
Physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections
and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building
arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power
systems, and associated bills of material
Protection and control design including panel arrangements, one
lines/single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries,
equipment wiring and relay panel wiring
Prepare calculations for studies and reports (grounding, lighting
protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory
acceptance testing
Coordinate design activities with other departments
(Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.)
Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
Provide short term field support during construction
Support business development and marketing initiatives
Other areas of involvement may include: relay settings, 3D
modeling/design, or industry/professional technical committee
involvement
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited
program
Minimum 3 years related experience (completion of master's degree
in related field may be substituted for one year of experience)
Completion of FE exam strongly preferred
Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI
Standards
Strong preference for those with:
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation
and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures and
criteria
Compensation Range
$125,000 - $165,000
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in
compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected
compensation range for this position is based on a number of
factors, including but not limited to: individual education,
qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total
annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and
eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive
bonus program.
