Job Description Job Description Painter Helpers San Diego, CA | Immediate Openings Job Summary We are hiring Painter Helpers to support U.S. Navy ship maintenance and repair projects , including aircraft carriers (CVNs). This is a hands?on, labor?intensive role for safety?focused candidates with shipyard or marine experience. Key Responsibilities Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of marine decking systems (tile, non?skid, underlayment) per NAVSEA standards Remove paint and coatings using mechanical and chemical methods Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and blasting Apply primers, sealants, and protective coatings Install and repair thermal and acoustic insulation (lagging) on piping, bulkheads, and machinery Operate pneumatic, electric, and hand tools; perform brush and roll painting Transport, load, and unload materials, tools, and equipment Maintain clean and safe work areas aboard ship Required Skills & Experience 1–2 years of experience in marine preservation, painting, decking, or shipyard labor Hands?on experience with surface preparation, coating removal, and basic preservation work Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using tools Familiarity with U.S. Navy shipboard environments preferred Preferred Qualifications DBIDS (active or eligible) OSHA 10 Firewatch Certification (If you do not already have OSHA 10 or Firewatch, we will schedule this for you) Shift Schedule ? Monday – Friday ?? 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM ? Overtime available based on project needs Work Environment Work performed aboard USS AMERICA (LHA?6) Naval Base San Diego – Pier 13 Physically demanding shipboard environment Why Join Us? Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of National City, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
