Case Manager
Fullerton, CA
Tuesday-Saturday 2:00pm-10:30pm
Position Summary:
In compliance with ORR Policy & Procedures, identify and process potential sponsors and expedite reunification for Unaccompanied Children; obtain required documentation; and ensure timely and accurate maintenance of official records.
Essential Duties:

  • Establish rapport with Unaccompanied Children, as well as their potential sponsors.
  • Manage logistics such as obtaining required documents, assembling records, entering records into electronic database.
  • Chaperone fly-outs (i.e. accompany youth to sponsor's custody including air travel)
  • Follow complex instructions that change frequently.
  • Work well under pressure.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    BA/BS in related field plus two years' experience working with Unaccompanied Children required, as is fluency in Spanish.
    Additional Requirements:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required to facilitate interviews, build trust, and ensure cooperation.
    • Excellent documentation skills including computer proficiency.

      Physical Requirements:
      For the safety and security of our clients, all residential staff must maintain proficiency in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, as well as First Aid/CPR, requiring regular and sustained bending, lifting, pulling, stooping, hand and arm pressure, sitting and/or laying prone on the floor for extended periods of time. To facilitate youth activities and transports, staff must be able to safely drive vehicles transporting one or more youth to events, family visits, etc. Southern California traffic is such that staff must expect heavy, prolonged traffic (more than one hour each way).

      • Frequent lifting, including toddlers
      • Frequent carrying, up to 25 pounds
      • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and squatting
      • Frequent pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds and 25 feet
      • Regularly lifting floor to waist and floor above shoulders
      • Regularly sitting, 1 to 5 hours per day
      • Regularly standing, 1 to 5 hours per day
      • Regular use of fine motor skills for such activities as writing, notetaking, craft-making
      • Normal or corrected vision needed for driving, supervision of youth, and documentation.
      • Normal or corrected hearing to insure proper supervision and campus safety.
      • Normal sense of smell to detect client hygiene issues, infant hygiene needs, and environment safety issues.

        Work Environment:
        Short-term shelter and Therapeutic Group Homes in a variety of cottages and campuses that house children and youth, including pregnant/parenting girls, as well as youth with medical, behavioral, and mental health issues. Youth are considered "detainees" by the Federal government and vigilance regarding possible flight risk must be maintained 24/7. Moderate to high noise level. Community settings, both local (such as school and recreation) and community-based to facilitate transports.
