At least one shift will be 12 hour Charge Nurse shift and the other shifts will be between 8 and 10 hours.Location is in Hillcrest, San Diego.Invest, Empower & Belong. • Our specialties have been nationally recognized for quality in areas such as cardiovascular care, oncology, orthopedics, geriatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and gastroenterology.Join the Med/Surg Overflow 9th Floor at Supervisor, Patient Care RN where you will ensure nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and a culture that promotes patient safety.Under the general direction of the Patient Care Manager, shares leadership responsibilities for the nursing unit, including managing daily staffing plans.Ensure appropriate and timely use of bed placement technology and adherence to care processes for bed placement/patient transfer/patient transport/room cleaning and patient discharge.Ensure the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care.Required Education/Experience/Specialized SkillsTwo years applicable clinical experience, one of which in a leadership role.Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.Graduate of an accredited program.Required Certification/RegistrationMaintains current California RN license.Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider and all competencies/certifications required of the charge RN on the unit.Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/CertificationBSN and/or certification in area of specialty.At Scripps Health, you will experience the pride, support and respect of an organization that has been repeatedly recognized as one of the nation's Top 100 Places to Work.You'll be surrounded by people committed to making a difference in the lives of their patients and their teammates.
