Job Summary:

The Loan Support Specialist III completes a variety of work tasks to support commercial real estate loan originations (pre- closing) or portfolio management (post-closing), adhering to bank and regulatory requirements. This position will be responsible for working directly with bank clients and ensuring an excellent customer experience. The incumbent will be highly proactive in managing a large and moderately complex pipeline, ensuring loans are processed and prepared for funding in a timely manner, as well as assist in origination, post-boarding functions, and ad-hoc projects as needed.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Apply subject matter expertise for accurate completion of tasks which may include the following:
    • Process Commercial loans with a focus on compliance, prepare documentation as needed to facilitate timely file submission including preparation of a “Needs List” based on borrowing structure, opening title/escrow, ordering third party reports based on loan parameters, analysis of financially complex loans as it relates to federal tax returns, and verification of accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
    • Review post-closing conditions, reported deferred maintenance and/or insurance claims, apply expert judgement and provide guidance when assigning to other staff, contact customers and/or Relationship Managers to collect evidence meeting Bank requirements (may include written field inspections of properties), and ensure timely completion of tasks.
    • Monitor end-to-end loan review process for adherence to Bank policy guidelines including timely collection of financial documents, preparation of electronic files, quality control audits, submission for credit approval and other loan review support functions.
    • Manage commercial real estate loan files within electronic repositories. Adhere to Bank guidance to ensure data integrity and mitigate any potential risks.
    • Mentor and provide guidance to other staff through both informal/one-on-one and formal/group settings.
  • Conduct client-centric customer interaction, associated with both new and existing relationship/loans, including collection of financial documents, resolution of delinquencies or other activities related to property operations, and development of ongoing business relationships.
  • Independently manage assigned pipeline with transparent communication throughout the loan cycle including daily monitoring, status updates to Relationship Manager and driving results based on key metrics to meet stringent turn-times and production targets.
  • Prepare written reports and other forms of documentation both in detailed loan level format and pipeline/portfolio summaries.
  • Provide additional administrative and/or project support for originations and/or portfolio management processes within assigned Business Unit.


Education, Licensure, Year of Experience (and type of work experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years relevant experience in a support role within a commercial mortgage origination or portfolio management group, or equivalent role

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • To perform this job, the employee must possess applicable technology skills and demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel).
