The appointment begins in August 2020. Position The Division of PAJ is seeking a candidate who can teach core and elective courses in our undergraduate criminal justice program. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach our core course in substantive criminal law and would expect successful candidates in this area to have both formal legal training from an ABA-accredited law school and direct experience practicing law. However, candidates with other specialties in criminal justice will also be considered for the position. Successful candidates would be responsible for engaging in superb teaching, advisement, and mentorship; for advancing a judicious agenda of research and publication in peer reviewed and/or law reviews from ABA accredited law schools; and to undertake meritorious service at the department, college, university and community levels. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellence collectively in teaching, research and service. Required Qualifications J.D. or J.S.D. from an ABA accredited law school, and/or Ph.D. in criminal justice or related field ABD's may apply but applicants must possess strong evidence that the Ph.D. will be completed by the time of appointment. All applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their ability to successfully teach substantive criminal law classes and other criminal justice coursework.
