technical expertise to identify musculoskeletal risk and lead
corporate strategy to minimize ergonomic exposures, improve related
field productivity, quality, and WC loss experience. - -Develop
practical solutions including countermeasures targeting specific
exposures, training, programs, and procedures to enable Risk
Engineering Field Consultants and policyholders to reduce and
manage risk and injuries. -Provide ergonomics consultation alone or
as part of a comprehensive service plan with targeted exposure
elimination and /or reduction activities driven by engineering
solutions. -This is a fully remote opportunity with the ability to
work out of your home within the designated territory (CA, AZ or
NV).The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at
different levels depending on background and
experience.Responsibilities:
- Conduct policyholder ergonomic focused needs assessments to
identify loss sources, risk exposures, and opportunities for
improvement in productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Review financial benefits of implementing operational changes
by leading decision makers through cost benefit presentations and
ROI discussions.
- Develop service plans to reduce frequency and severity of
musculoskeletal claims and increase efficiency and effectiveness of
operations.
- Conduct job and workstation evaluations to identify
musculoskeletal risks that are likely to cause discomfort, injury,
or reduced quality/productivity
- Develop customized engineering and administrative controls to
reduce frequency and severity of musculoskeletal injuries, reduce
exposure to musculoskeletal risk, and/or increase productivity and
product quality. -
- Assist insured's in developing policies and programs and
procedures, work instructions and training materials to reduce
frequency and severity of musculoskeletal injuries and
discomfort.
- Review insured's ergonomics-related policies and programs and
recommend changes where necessary to ensure effective
administration and implementation.
- Review loss data and conduct trending analyses to enable
identification and targeting of loss sources to reduce work-related
discomfort and injuries
- Cultivate ergonomic success stories that illustrate results,
supported by exposure identification, cost/benefit presentations,
and exposure elimination.
- Provide guidance and oversight, and collaborate with Risk
Engineering staff to ensure coordinated, effective
ergonomics-related services.
- Create tools, resources, and deliverables for Risk Engineering
field consultant's and customers that are targeted at ergonomic
priorities and driving positive results (reducing exposures and
losses).
- Identify ergonomic opportunities and assist the field in
identifying opportunities for ergonomic interventions and elevating
complex ergonomic work for all levels of the organization.
- Communicate trends, ergonomic innovations and solutions within
the field of ergonomics.
- Prepare for and conduct presentations to serviced accounts
- Based on knowledge of the insured's business activities and
needs, make recommendations that will assist the insured's
management to correct and prevent the potential for future
financial loss
- Work with regional office Risk Engineering Lead/Primary Mentor
and assist in all levels of training for new and experienced
hires.
- Conduct report and file reviews, coaching, etc.
- Active participation in special projects that could be
technical in nature (i.e.) Biotech, Technology, Industry Expertise,
etc. and work to become a Subject Matter Expert in one technical
discipline
- Active participation in the RMS process - meeting with
insured's, making presentations, working with claims, and
underwriting, etc.
- Work with Risk Engineering Managers on special projects and
developing reports to support underwriting and field
staffQualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or
university and 3+ years of ergonomics consultation in insurance
loss prevention or general industry is required, with an academic
focus on Occupational Safety and Health or Risk Management or
Master's degree in Ergonomics, on Occupational Safety and Health,
Human Factors Engineering or related field is preferred. -
- The ability to work closely within a team environment is a high
priority.
- Professional designation including CPE, CAE, AEP, CIE, etc. is
recommended based on specialty. - No licensing required.
- A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a safety related
role; property and casualty insurance experience highly
desired
- Ability to achieve or maintain 1 professional safety
certification/designation (i.e.) CSP, CIH, CPCU, CFPS, ARM,
etc.
- Must have the knowledge and skill to handle all Survey and
Service work assignments for all lines of business
- Strong consultative skills. Must work at an advanced skill
level when providing service.
- This would include the demonstration of operational loss
analysis reports and accident investigations used to direct
services that would eliminate or control conditions that could lead
to potential losses
- Must have the ability to complete detailed ergonomic reports
and service plans; provide consultative loss analysis and
recommendations in business letters; provide safety training to
address losses (i.e.) Ergonomics and can use the tools and products
to provide the services necessary.CompensationThe listed annualized
base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions
in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above
or below the listed range based on factors including but not
limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of
competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one
component of The Hartford's total compensation package for
employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses,
long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized
base pay range for this role is:$95,360 - $143,040Equal Opportunity
